Anzac War Letter

  Because ANZAC is coming up we have been learning about the First World War.  Once we learnt more about the First World War we had to write a letter pretending to be a soldier telling them about what is happening in World War. We had to think about what it would be like to be a soldier. Now that we finished writing it on our computers we got to make a piece of paper look old. We got coffee and tea bags and spread it over a piece of paper. Then we put it on the deck to dry. Once it dried we wrote our story on the piece of paper. I think mine looks really good. I liked writing it on the piece of paper. What emotions would you feel if you were in war? 

Simile And Metaphor Expert Renny!!!

 This week my class is learning about similes and metaphors. A simile is a sentence that compares two different things using the words Like or As. A metaphor is comparing two things that are not alike NOT using Like or As.  Here is an example of a metaphor.  I was a cheetah in the running race. Here is an example of a simile.  I was as slow as a tortoise. We got to do a Kahoot afterwards to see if we remembered. I got all of the questions right. Have you ever done a Kahoot because I love doing them?

Holiday Activity

 This week for the school challange was to make an activity to do in the school holidays. My activity is in the school holidays make a book and draw pictures of places you have been and what you did. In the slide it will show you how to make a book and what to do. I have learnt how to make a book. I am proud that I made a book. It was fun to make. I hope you like it too. Have you ever made a book?

Limericks

These are my limericks. Limericks are like poems. They have 5 sentences. The first two have to rhyme. The next two have to rhyme. The last one has to rhyme with the first two. The rhyming words have to be at the end of the sentences. I found it tricky at first but it got easier the more I did.  Have you ever done a limerick?

Haiku poem

This another poem about myself. We have been learning about syllables. The first line of a haiku poem has 5 syllables. The second line has 7 syllables. The third line has 5 syllables.

Haiku Poem

For writing this week we had to write a Haiku poem about our self. A Haiku poem has three lines. The first line has to have 5 syllables the second 7 and third 5. Have you wrote a haiku poem? If you have not why don't you try amd write on in the comments?

Colour Poem

For writing the last 2 weeks we have been doing a colour poem. You could do any colour you wanted. I chose blue because it is my favourite colour. We had to write about the colour we chose. We had to use our senses to write our poem. I loved doing a colour poem. I found it hard to draw some of my pictures. I found it easy to chose which picture to do next.

Reflection Term Two

I like reading, writing, and art because you use your imagination a lot. I think I am good at writing because I can describe  things that I do.  My next step in writing is to make sure I use comma’s and apostrophes.

I need to work on reading punctuation because reading sounds better with punctuation. In term 1 and term 2 I have got better at times tables and fractions.

I like art because you can paint, draw, and make cards. I also like art because you can choose different colours.

My favourite part of the term was when Mister Kinene taught us coding because it was fun looking for the different blocks.

 I  do not like doing Math Whizz because it is boring. It is boring because it’s not fun and repeats the same activity again and again.

All About Me

Hi my name is Renny. I go to Kaniere School and I am a year 3 student. My age is 7. My best friends are Lucy and Olivia. I have two cats and three sheep. My favourite animal is a giraffe. My favourite food is pizza with barbecue sauce. I like playing on the flying fox at school with my friends. I am looking forward to doing more reading this year. I want to get better at Reading punctuation. I am also looking forward to doing Athletics. I am good at running and writing and reading. I enjoy doing art and reading chapter books. My favourite game is wink wink murder. I like going to the swimming pool.

Art

First we got a big piece of paper. Then we dyed the paper. Then we had to let the paper dry. Then we wrote about ourselves. Then we had to get the writing printed off. Next we had to get a photo taken and we had to get our photo printed. Then we had to glue our photo and writing to the piece of paper. I think that I could work on cutting out the writing. I think that I did a good job at gluing my photo and writing on. I like dying the paper because you could chose which colour you wanted.

Safe Walking

If you go walking you have to wear shoes. You also have to look for sneaky driveways. You have to look left and right when you cross the road. You need to stay on the footpath. These are all the things that Constable Jos taught us when we learned about Safe Walking. Do you do these things?

My adventure

Last year I went to Punakaiki with Dad, Finnian, Miro,Nover and James. The next day we went for a walk to the beach. When we got to the beach James showed us a track that went to a marine reserve. There was nothing there until the tide went out. When the tide was out I saw lots of big starfish and one kina. Dad found some little fish and a crab. It was fun exploring the marine reserve.
