Egg-speriment

Mrs King our princibale set us a challenge we had to try and make an egg bounce with out cooking it!!!  We used two different vinegars. We tried it with two eggs. We put the eggs into glass jars and poured in the vinegar. We used white vinegar and malt vinegar. I found out that eggs shell is made of calicum which is porus, a bit like our teeth. We waited 3 day before bouncing it. The first time Mrs Hicford was bouncing the egg on the table the egg nearly fell off but she caught it, she bounced it again and it fell off and splattered all over  the floor. That was the one in malt vinegar.  We had one egg now. We went outside. We had a meter ruler and a container. First we dropped it from 10cm ,it bounced. Next we dropped it from 20cm and it splatted into the container. Now we have some more eggs doing the same. hopfuly they bounce better than the others. This time we are going to wait longer than 3 days.

Magic Powder

Today we did an experiment. We got into pairs and had a cup with sodium polyacrylate. Me, Sofia and Taylor were in a group. We did not know it was sodium polyacrylate. Then Chris gave us some water with a spoon. We had to put it in the cup. It made the powder expanded!!! We touched it and it felt soft but looked hard. We put 32 tea spoons of water in. Then Mrs Hickford put in to tea spoons of salt. The powder had air bubbles in it! It was turning into liquid. It looked really cool. I thought that it was going to fizz just like Finnian's volcano. I learnt that disposable nappies take 450 years to break down. Have you ever done this experiment? I found it fun and exiting because I didn't know what was going to happen next.

Propagation Tunnel

In the propagation tunnel has 180 flax, 12 kowhai, 99 pittosporums, 5 coprosmas and 18 five fingers.  To make sure the plants grow we have to water them every day and make sure they all get sun light.
