Today someone called Chris came in and told us about asthma and how we get it. We get asthma from lots of different things like the cold, dust mites, germs and from pets. He also told us how to stop getting it by washing our hands for 20 seconds and making sure there are lots of bubbles in the soap. This is Chris holding up a dust mite.
Kia ora Renny,
ReplyDeleteIt is so cool to hear how Chris came into your classroom and taught you all about asthma. Asthma is a lung condition which affects the way we breathe. I have a few friends who have asthma, and they have to keep an inhaler with them at all times in case they get an asthma attack.
Do you know anyone who has asthma?
If so, what kind of things do they do to keep prepared in case of an emergency?
I was interested to learn that we can get asthma from things such as the cold, dust mites, germs and from pets. I always thought that asthma was genetic (meaning that if your parents had asthma, there would be a more likely chance that you would get asthma as well), and although this is partially true, it is awesome to learn new things like the fact that environmental factors can play a part in someone getting diagnosed with asthma.
The dust mite Chris is holding up is so cool, and I really like how terrifying and angry he looks with his furrowed brows and sharp teeth.
Where do we find dust mites, and how can we get rid of them?
It would be awesome if you could reply to this comment and let me know!
Keep up the great work!
Nga mihi
Hi Kieryn Me and my Nana both get asthma. We both have inhalers.
DeleteHi Kieryn Mum and I looked up dust mites. They live in bedding furniture and carpet. You can get rid of dust mites by vaccumming and washing.
