How To Spot Fake News
This week for reading we are learning how to spot fake news. We had to read different stories and they were about a Tree Octopus. Then we had to write down the reasons why we can tell the story is fake. Firstly it was weird and the photo looked photo shopped. Secondly the article says that the Tree Octopuses are born in the water but when they get old enough the go onto land. Thirdly the picture is a normal octopus on the ground. Some articles can be a hoax. I really liked doing my poster and it got me thinking. Here is some tips about spotting fake news. Did you already know how to spot fake news or is it new to you.? 🐙🌲
Hi Renny, what a great task you had to do at school. Yes there is lots of fake news and articles that claim to be true so learning about checking is important. Another good tip is to check the website address or the author. Sometimes articles can be "opinion" pieces which are just that persons opinion and not telling the reader other ideas, facts or information that they might disagree with. From Mum
